Purplty three bottle flavors

Background

Purple tea is a new tea varietal grown in high altitudes in Kenya, and it is purple due to the pigmentation provided by the same super-antioxidant found in blueberries, pomegranates and other superfruits called anthocyanin. They were looking to create a refreshing iced tea beverage with a focus on health and targeted at a younger audience of iced tea drinkers.

I was hired for

Branding strategy, naming, packaging design, messaging, e-commerce web design & build.

Logo

I started as we always do with images and words to inspire, and almost instantly we stumbled up the idea of taking raw loose leaf tea and superimposing the Purplty “P” on it to create the logo.

Packaging Design

I wanted to create something simple, fresh, clean, and a bottle that worked with the natural color of the product. Also, with sustainability in mind, we went with a glass bottle with steel cap, so people can instantly recycle by removing the label and re-using the bottles as water bottles.

Messaging

"Purple Tea Makes Other Teas Green With Envy"

Many credible scientific journals have proven that, compared to green tea, purple tea has far higher antioxidant activity and also contains anthocyanins, an antioxidant not found in other tea varieties, so I felt this message captured the playful spirit of the brand but also delivered a real message about how it’s different.

E-Commerce

I built a fully responsive, highly intuitive e-commerce website with a simple and sleek design to help navigate customers to purchase through this direct to consumer site.
